Whether you have a love for the wheel or hand building in clay this course could be for you!
Immerse yourself in the practice of ceramics. Focusing on both The potter’s wheel and/or hand building
with clay this 5 day weeklong clay camp for adults 18+ is designed for all levels!
We will spend time not only on form and function but decoration as well. Including working with underglazes, coloured slips and transfer techniques
Beginners will learn the basics in hand building and the wheel.
Wheel based skills to be explored:

Wedging
-
Centering
-
Trimming
-
Throwing cups, bowls as well as small vases for the adventurous.
Those with more of a focus on hand building will explore pinch pots, slab built forms and coiling.
Intermediate and advanced students will focus on:

perfecting their skills on the wheel with a focus on throwing larger more difficult shapes

Lidded jars
-
Throwing off the hump
-
multiple piece forms

Learning tricks to help working larger
This is also the perfect opportunity to work on a specific project that is more difficult to accomplish in a weekly workshop scenario.
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:
JULY 22-26 FULL
JULY 29/30/31 / AUG 1/2 or 6
(Depending on students availability that long weekend)
Class size is up to 4 students only so that students get the attention needed to perfect their skills, have discussions about the creative process while encouraging their own personal expression.
5 DAYS / 10AM - 4PM 33 HOURS IN TOTAL
PLUS HALF DAY GLAZING WORKSHOP FOR LOCAL students a week or so after bisque firings. For those that travel from afar you can pick pieces that you want to keep and we will glaze them for you ( we have an array of studio glazes to choose from)and ship at your expense)
Total Fee: $762.75
(Cost is 675$ plus hst)

For those who want lunch please bring your food we do have a fridge and toaster oven available
